“Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing.”

Partner by ENCOURAGING

A missionary, by definition, is often someone far from home and far from things they are used to. They consider those of you at home to be an integral part of their ministry. Even sending a quick note to say that you are praying for them can go a long way in helping a missionary battle loneliness and discouragement. Be creative and think of ways that you   can be encouragement. Here are some ideas...

  1. Sending a birthday or anniversary card, an email or even a small gift.

  2. Find out things that a missionary is not able to get where they are serving and send them some. Possibilities such as….

  3. -Food items (such as peanut butter, ranch dressing packets, or their favorite candy, etc. Find out what they like!)

  4. -Maybe they need new socks or their kids are growing out of their clothes.

  5. Sending a missionary lady some sweet smelling soap or a candle can be a wonderful luxury when she is in less than luxurious conditions.

  6. Send a missionary the church bulletins and a recording of a sermon that was encouraging to you.

  7. Share YOUR prayer requests and praises with a missionary! Ministry is a two way street. Missionaries want to be involved in your lives too and sharing your lives with them is a wonderful blessing.

  8. If you have read a great book, send it to a missionary when you are finished. There aren’t any libraries in the jungle!

  9. Pass on any great devotionals that challenged or encouraged your walk with the Lord.

  10. Be Creative! Imagine yourself in their situation and think of what would be an encouragement to you. Maybe you can organize a group of individuals to do this together.
